Scott Jones:
Straight Ahead Jazz

Here's some of the latest unofficial recordings and the results of my recent whims of playing in the style of straight ahead jazz.

11. Mrs. PC (my take on the Coltrane classic "Mr. PC")

13. Giant Steps (8-1-03) jazz

14. Wave (A.C. Jobim)

Scott Jones - Solo Jazz Guitar

15. Nardis

My take on the Miles Davis tune. I played it as three different approaches, one solo after another in the same track: as Scofield; as Metheny, and the last one as Henderson (with a bit of Landau)...the reharmonization and chord voicings are in the Holdsworth approach.

Scott Jones - all guitar

16. Days of Wine & Roses

My arrangement of the jazz standard written by Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer, on my nylon string, no pick, no backing track.

Scott Jones - Solo Guitar, Nylon String

17. All Of Me

Here is my take of the jazz standard "All Of Me", played from a Django-esque approach.

Scott Jones - Guitar, mandolin, bass

18. Giant Steps tapping version 2004

All completely tapped...no picking...more of fusion, Holdsworth-ish approach than my other takes.

Scott Jones - guitar

19. St. Thomas

Here's a little latin thing I did with the Sonny Rollins tune; nylon-string with no pick.

Scott Jones - Nylon String Guitar
