Scott Jones:
Orchestral/Soundtrack Demo

The music of John Williams sparked my interest in film scoring at an early age.

The following are examples of some of my works in this area.

The String Quartet pays homage to a couple of my favorite composers: Ravel and Debussy.

To start off, here's a demo soundtrack that I composed for a national planetarium show production company.

1. Planetarium Show Demo*
(This piece was performed entirely on the Korg Karma workstation, recorded in ProTools, and scored to video footage provided by the production company.)

2. Soundtrack A *

3. Soundtrack B *

4. Soundtrack C *

5. Piano Piece *

ALL INSTRUMENTS 2-5 SEQUENCED BY SCOTT JONES

6. Wonderful Words of Life
(piano trio ala Mozart)

  • Gary Fiorino - piano
  • Kristin Sage-Kaminsky - cello
  • Julie Leonhart - violin

7. String Quartet in F major *

  • Julie Leonhart - violin
  • Joe Kaminsky - violin
  • Anna Lasceowitz - viola
  • Kristin Sage-Kaminsky - cello

8. Jesus Draw Me Close
(classical)

  • Gary Fiorino - piano
  • Kristin Sage-Kaminsky - cello

9. O Come All Ye Faithful

  • String Quartet plus Michelle Defabio
  • Arrangement: Scott Jones

10. Christmas Overture 2004 - Scott Jones arranger, orchestrations

  • An arrangement I did for full orchestra. John Williams was my model for this, as I think he writes really accessible music that still has rich harmony and rhythmic life. If you're a fan of his, you'll hear countless references to everything from Superman, Harry Potter, Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars, and his American Journey Olympics themes..... I basically did this in short themes from the "Hallelujah Chorus" "Joy to the World", "Angels We Have Heard on High", "Hark the Herald", "Angels From the Realms of Glory", "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen", "O Come All Ye Faithful", and then reprised "Joy" (with a wink to the Nutcracker) and "Hark", and worked in "For Unto Us" at the end.

Pieces 6, 7, 8, & 9 RECORDED DURING PERFORMANCE AT GRACE CHURCH
